Preparing for Hajj or Umrah

Saudi Arabia requires all Hajj and Umrah pilgrims to present a valid Meningitis ACWY vaccination certificate as part of their visa application. Without this certificate, your visa will not be processed.

At Norfolk Street Pharmacy, our pharmacists are experienced in providing the full range of vaccinations recommended for pilgrimage travel. We issue certificates on the day of your vaccination, so you can submit your visa application without delay.

We recommend booking your consultation at least 4 to 6 weeks before your departure date to allow time for vaccines to take full effect.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What vaccinations do I need for Hajj or Umrah?
Meningitis ACWY vaccination is mandatory for all Hajj and Umrah pilgrims. Saudi Arabia requires a valid ACWY certificate for your visa application. We also recommend Seasonal Flu, COVID booster (if available), Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Typhoid, and a Polio booster. Your pharmacist will advise on the best combination for you.
How far in advance should I get vaccinated?
We recommend booking at least 4 to 6 weeks before your departure. The Meningitis ACWY vaccine must be given at least 10 days before your arrival in Saudi Arabia. Some vaccines, like Hepatitis B, require multiple doses over several weeks.
Will I receive a certificate for my visa application?
Yes. We issue an official Meningitis ACWY vaccination certificate on the same day as your vaccination. This certificate is accepted by the Saudi Arabian Embassy for Hajj and Umrah visa applications.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. You do not need a GP referral to use our Hajj and Umrah vaccination service. Simply book an appointment online, call us, or walk in during our opening hours.
Can I get all my vaccines in one visit?
In most cases, yes. Meningitis ACWY, Hepatitis A, Typhoid, Flu, and Polio booster can all be given in the same appointment. Hepatitis B requires a course of doses over several weeks, so we recommend starting early.
Is the Meningitis ACWY vaccine safe?
Yes. The Meningitis ACWY vaccine has a well-established safety profile. Common side effects are mild and temporary, including soreness at the injection site, a slight headache, or feeling tired for a day or two. Serious side effects are very rare.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Please bring your passport (or a copy) so we can complete your vaccination certificate with the correct details. If you have a previous vaccination record or immunisation history, please bring that as well.
Can children receive the Meningitis ACWY vaccine?
Yes. The Meningitis ACWY vaccine can be given to children aged 2 and over. Our pharmacist will assess suitability during the consultation.
