- Do not use cotton buds or try to remove wax yourself

Does microsuction hurt?
No. Most people describe it as a mild tickling or buzzing sensation. The suction device is very gentle. You may hear a loud noise from the suction, but this is completely normal and stops as soon as the procedure is finished.
Why is microsuction better than ear syringing?
Microsuction uses controlled suction under direct vision with a microscope, so the practitioner can see exactly what they are doing. Ear syringing pushes water into the ear canal, which carries a higher risk of infection, eardrum perforation, and discomfort. Many GP surgeries and hospitals have stopped offering syringing in favour of microsuction.
What if there is no wax when I arrive?
We examine both ears before starting. If there is no significant wax buildup, we will advise you accordingly and only charge for the examination. We would never carry out an unnecessary procedure.
How often should I have ear wax removed?
