About Vitamin B12 Injections

Vitamin B12 plays a vital role in energy production, brain function, and red blood cell formation. Low levels can leave you feeling tired, foggy, weak, and run down. While B12 is found in meat, fish, and dairy, some people struggle to absorb enough from their diet alone.

B12 injections deliver the vitamin directly into your muscle, bypassing the digestive system for rapid and complete absorption. Many patients report feeling more energised within days of their first injection.

At Norfolk Street Pharmacy, our pharmacists administer B12 injections in a clean, comfortable environment. No GP referral is needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a blood test before getting a B12 injection?

No. For general wellness B12 injections, a blood test is not required. However, if you suspect a B12 deficiency with ongoing symptoms, we recommend discussing this with your GP who may want to investigate the underlying cause. Our pharmacist will assess your suitability during a quick consultation.

How often should I get B12 injections?

For a loading dose (if you are deficient), we recommend one injection per week for 4 weeks, followed by one injection every 2 to 3 months for maintenance. For general energy boosting, once every 1 to 3 months is typical. Your pharmacist will recommend a schedule based on your needs.

Are there any side effects?

Side effects are very rare. You may experience mild soreness at the injection site for a day or two. Serious side effects are extremely uncommon. B12 is a water-soluble vitamin, so any excess is naturally flushed out by your body.

Can I get B12 injections if I am pregnant?

B12 injections are generally safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding, but we recommend consulting your midwife or GP first. If you have been prescribed B12 by your doctor, we can administer the injections for you.
