About Our Women's Health Service
Getting the healthcare you need should not mean waiting weeks for a GP appointment. At Norfolk Street Pharmacy, we offer a range of women's health services with same-day consultations and treatment.
Our pharmacists provide confidential advice and treatment for common conditions including urinary tract infections, emergency contraception, oral contraception, period delay, and thrush. Some of these services are available free on the NHS through the Pharmacy First programme.
All consultations take place in our private consultation room. If you prefer to see a female pharmacist, please let us know when booking and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get the morning after pill without a prescription?
Yes. Levonorgestrel (the standard morning after pill) is available from our pharmacy without a prescription after a short pharmacist consultation. EllaOne (effective for up to 5 days) also requires a pharmacist consultation but not a GP prescription. We can supply both on the same day you visit.
Is the UTI service really free?
Yes. Through the NHS Pharmacy First programme, women aged 16 to 64 with uncomplicated UTI symptoms can receive free antibiotic treatment from our pharmacy without seeing a GP. Our pharmacist will assess your symptoms and prescribe treatment if appropriate.
Can I get my contraceptive pill from a pharmacy?
Yes. If you are already taking an oral contraceptive pill and need a repeat supply, our pharmacist can provide this without a GP visit. We carry out a quick health check and can supply up to 12 months of your regular pill.
How far in advance should I take period delay tablets?
You should start taking Norethisterone 3 days before your expected period. Your period will be delayed for as long as you continue taking the tablets, up to a maximum of 17 days. Book your consultation at least a week before your planned trip or event.
